The World Between the Block and the Paper

Southern Vermont Arts Centre, Manchester, VT, USA

11 December 2021 - 27 March 2022

A mokuhanga exhibition of international artists and teachers presented by the Southern Vermont Arts Center and the Mokuhanga Sisters. This exhibition was dedicated to memories of Keiko Kadota (d. 2017), the founder of Nagasawa Art Park and Mi-Lab, and Tetsuo Soyama (d. 2019), a beloved teacher of printmaking and book arts. In this exhibition, the Mokuhanga Sisters invited teachers and colleagues to exhibit con-temporary works in mokuhanga, creating a dialogue around the medium and the way in which these ancient techniques continue to be passed on from teacher to student. Twenty-four artists participated in this extensive survey of contemporary mokuhanga, featuring over 150 works of art.
